Paris Olympics 2024 Day 7 Live Updates: Manu Bhaker finished second in women's 25 pistol qualification shooting a total of 590 (294 in precision, 296 in rapid) out of a possible 600 and thus reached her third final of the Paris Olympics. Archers Ankita Bhakat and Dhiraj Bommadevara became the first Indians to reach the mixed team semi-finals. However, they couldn't go past South Korea and then lost to the USA in the bronze medal match. Lakshya Sen later became the first Indian to reach the semi-finals of men's singles badminton at the Olympics.
Paris Olympics 2024 Day 7 Highlights: Lakshya Sen prevailed in an intense quarterfinal clash against Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei to make history at the Paris Olympics. He has become the first Indian man to reach the singles semi-final in badminton at the Olympics. Earlier, Ankita Bhakat and Dhiraj Bommadevara made history by becoming the first Indians to reach the semi-finals in mixed-team archery at the Olympics. However, they couldn't get a first ever Olympic medal in the sport for India as they lost the bronze medal match to USA's Casey Kaufhold and Brady Ellison. Manu Bhaker added to the history she had already made in Paris by becoming the first Indian to qualify for three finals in a single edition of the Olympics. Manu finished second in the women's 25m pistol qualification, and will now add to the two bronze medals she has already won in 10m pistol shooting. The Indian men's hockey team then registered a 3-2 win over Australia, the first time they beat the mighty Kookaburras at the Olympics since Munich 1972.
Manu shot 294 in the precision stage of the qualifiers and followed that up with an emphatic 296 in the rapid stage. She thus finished with a total score of 590 out of a possible 600. It was not to be for fellow Indian Esha Singh though, as she shot 291 in precision and 290 in rapid. Esha finished with a total score of 581 and was 18th in qualification. The top eight are chosen for the final, which will be held at 1pm on Saturday.

Paris Olympics 2024 Day 7 Live Updates: A strange couple of days really. India won a medal on Day 6 but it cannot be called a good day for the country overall at the Paris Olympics as they also went on to lose four medal contenders. No medals today and yet so many reasons for the Indians to smile.
Manu Bhaker became the first Indian to reach three shooting finals, having emphatically gone through qualification in women's 24m pistol. Ankita Bhakat and Dhiraj Bommadevara made all kinds of history on their way to a fourth-placed finish in mixed-team archery. The Indian men's hockey team beat Australia 3-2 and thus go into the knockouts with a first win over the mighty Kookaburras at the Olympics since 1972. And then, Lakshya Sen prevailed in a slugfest of a quarterfinal against Chou Tien Chen to become the first Indian to reach the men's singles semifinals at the Olympics. Phew!
