Tax officials to monitor large, unaccounted deposits of 2,000 notes

The Reserve Bank of India has allowed the exchange of ₹2,000 banknotes into smaller denominations up to ₹20,000 per transaction.

2,000 banknote exchange: Business as usual at Chandigarh banks as only a handful turn up

It was business as usual at Sector 17’s Bank Square, with only around 10 to 12 people waiting in the queue at the SBI Bank and crowd was even scarcer at the Punjab National Bank, with only four to five customers coming in to exchange the currency.

RBI website crashes after announcing the scrapping of 2,000 notes

The official website of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) crashed due to the heavy search volume after it asked banks to stop issuing the ₹2000 banknotes.
