Dharmendra was born Dharam Singh Deol in Punjab. He is also known as the “He-Man” of Bollywood. He was signed by Arjun Hingorani for Dil Bhi Tera, Hum Bhi Tere in 1960, his first film as hero for Rs 51. He starred in women oriented films like Anpadh with Mala Sinha, Bandini and Soorat Aur Seerat. The veteran actor, who has worked in films such as Satyakam, Pratiggya, Sholay, Chupke Chupke and Dharam Veer has ruled over the hearts of his fans by his performance. He is married to Hema Malini. In 2012, he was honoured with Padma Bhushan by the Government of India.
