AQI in 8 Haryana cities turn ‘severe’, ‘very poor’ in 7 others

As per the data released by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), those in the ‘severe’ category include Fatehabad (466), Faridabad (438), Jind (432), Hisar (425), Sonepat (416), Kaithal (415), Sirsa (414) and Gurugram (404).

A thick layer of smog covers the Rashtrapati Bhavan as the overall air quality in the national capital recorded in the 'Severe' category, in New Delhi on Saturday. Neighbour Haryana too was not far behind with 8 cities turning ‘severe’, and 7 others ‘very poor’. (ANI)

Haryana Khaps pass resolution against same-clan marriages

The Khap panchayat was called by Nationalist Congress Party leader and social activist Sonia Doohan in which nearly 80 khap heads were present. Sonia said they will kick off a yatra to Chandigarh and ask the Haryana government to form a law on these issues.

A Khap panchayat was held in Hisar’s Narnaund on Wednesday in which several resolutions, including ban on marriages within the same village, same clan (gotra) and villages of brotherhood were passed. (HT File)

Former MP Ajay Chautala re-elected as JJP national chief

Ajay Singh, who was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment in January 2013 by a special CBI court after being convicted in the JBT teachers’ recruitment case, had been selected as the national chief of the JJP on August 31, 2020
