Congress suffers setback as HC rejects its plea on tax assessment

Congress has said its accounts have been frozen, and claimed that the action was politically motivated and aimed at ensuring it didn’t have the resources to contest the Lok Sabha elections

On March 13, the court rejected the Congress’s plea appealing an order of the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal which had rejected its plea seeking a stay on a demand notice for around <span class='webrupee'>₹</span>105 crore issued by the tax department.

The BJP’s biggest rival, the Indian National Congress, received 9.4% or ₹1,123.31 crore of all bonds encashed until March 2023.
