Eleven climbers killed as Indonesia volcano erupts, search on hold

Indonesia volcano: The 2,891 metre (9,485 ft) high volcano spewed ash as high as 3 km into the sky on Sunday.

Indonesia's Mount Marapi volcano erupts, spews ash 3 km into sky

There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties after the eruption at 2:54 pm local time.

The volcano, with a peak of 2,891 metres, is on the third-highest alert level of Indonesia's four-step system and authorities imposed an exclusion zone around Marapi's crater.(AP/Representational image)
