Closure at last: Verdict in Behmai massacre ends 43-year wait

4 villages cut off in Kanpur Dehat; Ganga flooded

Four villages near Katri remain cut off due to flooding in Kanpur Dehat. Floodwater from the swollen Ganga river has submerged Unnao's Shuklagunj. Authorities are working to rescue trapped families and more water is expected to reach Kanpur in the coming days.

The river, which had only recently begun receding, was getting floodwater from upstream, because of which it went past the danger mark in Kanpur. (HT)

New litigation policy in works; focus likely to be on mafias & Pocso cases
