BJP president JP Nadda on Thursday slammed the Congress for overlooking the “misdeeds” of its leaders including Rahul Gandhi, whom he accused of having a history of abusing the PM and OBCs.
By a judgment on June 20, the high court quashed the 65% reservation for SC/STs, EBCs and OBCs in the state while underlining that “merit cannot be completely effaced and sacrificed at the altar of reparations”.
The move comes after sections of the OBCs had drifted to the opposition INDIA bloc in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, reducing the BJP’s tally in Uttar Pradesh to 33 from 62 in the 2019 general election.
