Three people, including a woman, were arrested in Amritsar for running a drug smuggling racket. The police recovered 4 kg opium, ?4 lakh drug money, a pistol, and traced the accuseds' links with Pakistan. The group had been running a network of opium smuggling in border villages.
Mr G. D. Birla in a pamphlet entitled “Basic Facts Relating to Hindustan and Pakistan,” analyses the effects of partition of the country, with particular reference to the country’s economy. The pamphlet has been sent to prominent Indian leaders.
Senior BJP leader and party’s Jammu and Kashmir spokesman Altaf Thakur said that the Pakistan was pushing huge consignments of narcotics into Jammu and Kashmir to destroy the young generation which needs to be stopped and condemned by all forms.
