Rajpura thermal plant unit flooded, shut down in Punjab

Incessant rain and heavy water flow from the Sutlej and Ghaggar rivers have led to flooding in low-lying areas of Rupnagar and Patiala in Punjab, causing damage to property and infrastructure. The Indian Army and NDRF have been called in for rescue operations. The defunct portion of the Sutlej Yamuna Link canal is also causing heavy spillage in Rajpura area. Several villages have been flooded, leading to crop loss for farmers. Rivulets, including Ghaggar and Badi Nadi, are flowing above danger mark, raising concerns of further flooding.
