Game changer: Khilrian village promoting sports to fight off drugs

Anveer Singh is among 150 other schoolchildren – 30 hailing from the same village – who have been receiving focussed training in various sports free of cost at Khilrian. This is part of the panchayat’s initiative to motivate children towards constructive activities and keep them away from social evils such as drugs.

FIR against Sangrur couple for submitting forged site plan

Jains had allegedly presented a forged site plan in their defense. Sekhon stated, “ We filed a complaint when we discovered this plan in another case and the investigation led to the discovery of the forged document, resulting in the FIR.”

An FIR has been filed against Veena and Sushil Jain, a couple from Sangrur, for allegedly submitting a forged site plan and using their residential property for commercial purposes, violating local building bylaws. Punjab Police trace four missing Sangrur boys within 60 hours

The boys, all students of Classes 6 and 7, who had left their homes on January 13 “in search of adventure”, took a train from Dhuri to Sriganganagar in neighbouring Rajasthan.

Two schoolchildren injured as van, car collide near Sangrur

The accident took place around 8.30am when the van was taking eight students to a private school, police said. The van collided with the car that was being driven on the wrong side, the police said.

The two injured students were rushed to hospital and later discharged after first aid.
