US Senate approves $460b spending bill to avert shutdown hours before deadline

The measure contains six annual spending bills and has already passed the House

US senators were racing against the clock March 8 to vote on a package of funding bills for key federal agencies to avert a partial government shutdown ahead of a midnight deadline.
