After speaking with an intern and learning that he was being paid ₹2,000 per month, Rajesh Sawhney took to the microblogging platform to share his thoughts.
The state cabinet decided to increase the stipend of the government internships in medical, dental, Ayurveda, Unani and homoeopathy colleges in the state to ₹18,000 per month from ₹11,000 per month. It was also decided to give a stipend of ₹18,000 for the internship period to those who have completed their medical degree course from abroad
The authorities held a meeting a some of the interns on the Panjab University campus, Chandigarh, but did not found a way to increase the stipend, say sources
Various student parties such as Chhatra Yuva Sangharsh Samiti (CYSS) and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) were also seen along with the 100 odd protesters present here.
