The Maharashtra government has appointed two committees to investigate the death of an 18-year-old girl in a Mumbai women's hostel and to review security measures in all women's hostels across the state. The main accused in the case is the hostel's watchman, who committed suicide. Various student outfits had earlier raised concerns over security in women's hostels. The committees will investigate security, infrastructure, and other issues concerning women?s hostels across the state and submit the report before June 14.
