A bench of Justices Mukta Gupta and Poonam A Bamba suspended the sentence from January 27 to February 10 and asked Sengar to furnish two sureties of ₹1 lakh each and report to the SHO concerned on a daily basis during this period.
The incident happened when the victim, a second-year college student, was alone at home. She was later found by her younger sister in an unconscious state in the courtyard and bleeding from her private parts.
A Delhi court had in December 2019 sentenced expelled former BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar to imprisonment for the remainder of his life for kidnapping and raping the girl in UP’s Unnao in 2017 when she was a minor.
A bench of Justices Siddharth Mridul and Rajnish Bhatnagar issued notice to the CBI and the victim on the bail plea and listed the matter for further hearing on May 25.
