India's first case of the XE variant of the Covid-19 was reported from Mumbai. One case of the XE Covid variant and one of the Kappa variant was detected, BMC said. Patients with both the Covid variants don’t have any severe symptoms so far. W.H.O had said that the new subvariant could be the most transmissible strain so far. W.H.O had said the variant had a growth rate advantage of 10 per cent as compared to BA.2. So far, BA.2 was deemed to be the most contagious of all the COVID-19 variants.
