Watch | Indonesian designer creatively recycles wood into wrist watches
In Indonesia, old wood scraps are finding new life as fashion accessories. The company Matoa is turning discarded wood from local furniture makers into stunning timepieces.The Matoa brand is perfect timing for Indonesia, as the country seeks to encourage creativity and attract new artists. About 25 watchmakers work around the clock to create about 25 watches per day. Each wooden watch sells for between Rs 5000 to Rs.8000. They are sold in at least nine countries, including Singapore, China, Japan, South Africa and the United States.
