Ma Anand Sheela, on love

As personal secretary to the spiritual guru Rajneesh aka Osho, Ma Anand Sheela ran the ashram town of Rajneeshpuram in the US, in the 1980s. As this township mushroomed, administrators, including Sheela, entered a pitched battle with locals in other small towns nearby. In 1984, Osho devotees were accused of contaminating 10 salad bars with salmonella, to influence a local election. Sheela pleaded guilty to charges of attempted murder and assault and served 39 months of a 20-year sentence (she was released early for good behaviour). She moved to Europe, married her third husband, and started a new life. Now 72, she runs nursing homes for destitute seniors in Switzerland, Vietnam and Mauritius. Through it all, she has believed that love should have no limits, she says. Here she is on love, give-and-take, and disappointment.
