Wildlife filmmaker Pradeep Hegde recalls encounters with great Indian bustard

The great Indian bustard is a skittish and shy bird. With only about 150 left in the wild, it’s not easy to spot one. Wildlife filmmaker Pradeep Hegde went in search of the great Indian bustard in the Pokhran area of the Thar Desert, one of the large bird’s last remaining strongholds. Guided by Radheshyam Pemani Bishnoi, a local conservationist, it still took them a couple of days to catch their first sighting. Here’s a look at his adventure.
