Tensions once again gripped India's northeastern state of Manipur after fresh violence broke out in Jiribam district on September 7. The clashes resulted in the deaths of three suspected Kuki militants and one Meitei man. Meanwhile, Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh met Governor L. Acharya and apprised him of the deteriorating situation in the state. He also held an emergency meeting with the MLAs.
