Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday accused the BJP of “mischievously” distorting history—both ancient and contemporary—and alleged that “the divisive and polarizing agenda of the ruling party and its leaders has now become a regular feature of the political discourse in state after state.” Gandhi was addressing Congress Parliamentary Party in the national capital, weeks before the party’s upcoming Chintan shivir or the brainstorming camp and termed the debacle in the recent five assembly elections as “shocking and painful” but announced that she will personally do whatever needed to ensure “unity at all levels” in the organization.
