'Drama', 'liar', 'fake': Cong, Akali Dal MPs fight outside Parl on farm laws

Parliament members of two opposition parties Congress and Akali Dal had a bitter war of words outside Parliament on Wednesday over the contentious farm laws. Congress MP Ravneet Singh Bittu and Akali Dal MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal accused each other of helping government to pass the farm bills last year. While Ravneet Singh Bittu accused Harmsimrat, a former minister in Narendra Modi cabinet, of supporting farm bills when she was the ally of NDA, the Akali MP returned the fire by claiming that Congress members facilitated the passage of the new laws in Parliament by walking out during the voting. The spat between Harsimrat and Bittu erupted at a time when she was staging protests against the farm laws. Punjab is set to go for Assembly polls next year and the issue of farmers is already dominating the election narrative.
