Kashmir: Anger Over Social Media Post On Islamic Prophet Muhammad By NIT Student; Protests Erupt

Educational institutes in Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar saw protests by students over a controversy sparked by a social media post. A student at National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar uploaded an allegedly blasphemous post regarding Islamic prophet Muhammad. Protests first broke out at NIT, and then spread to other campuses. Amid the outrage, police filed an FIR against the student, who reportedly hails from Mumbai, and has been sent on leave.
