Taliban strike in Pak PM's home province; 20 militants storm police base

Heavily-armed Taliban militants opened fire at a police station in Pakistan's Punjab province. This attack came days after a suicide bomber blew himself up at a mosque in Peshawar, killing at least 100 people. Pak police said around 20 Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants armed with automatic weapons attacked the police station on Tuesday night but were repulsed. The latest incident assumes significance because TTP, which has been targeting police stations and check posts in Pakistan's restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, has now trained its guns in Punjab province.
