Bankrupt Pak gets desperate for IMF deal; Sharif govt hikes petrol price

Adding trouble for the already inflation-hit citizens of Pakistan, the Shehbaz Sharif government raised fuel prices to a historic high. The decision came just hours after the government unleashed a tax-loaded mini-budget and in a bid to appease the International Monetary Fund for unlocking the critical loan tranche. Petrol prices were increased to PKR 272 and diesel to PKR 280. The increase in fuel prices was among the preconditions set by the IMF along with new fiscal measures that have been undertaken in the mini-budget. Watch this video for more details.
