Israeli soldiers have accidentally fired into Israeli territory at least five times since the Gaza war broke out on October 7, 2023, according to Haaretz newspaper. It was reported that buildings were damaged by IDF tank shelling. Sderot's city hall was targeted by a shell aimed at a building inside the Gaza Strip, while a tank mistakenly fired at an observation post inside Israel, and another tank fire triggered sirens to sound in the settlements of Ein Hashlosha, Nirim, and Nir Oz.
