Israel is set to restrict access to the Al-Aqsa mosque in East Jerusalem during Ramadan amid the raging war in Gaza. The Israeli Prime Minister’s office cited security reasons for the planned restrictions, Al Jazeera reported. Hamas dismissed the restrictions and urged Palestinians to mobilise in Al-Aqsa mosque to reject the “criminal decision”. The Jerusalem mosque often witnesses violence during Ramadan. Last year saw violent clashes between Palestinians and Israeli police.
