Iran's new defence minister, Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh, proposed modernisation of the country's military before the parliament on August 14, according to Press TV. Nasirzedah proposed further development of the Iranian defence sector amid ongoing tensions with Israel after the assassination of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh on July 31 in Tehran. He proposed improving artificial intelligence technology across the country’s drone squad to further equip it for swarm flight operations and enhance naval and aerial warfare capabilities.
