NEET-UG 2024: Re-exam date, cancellations, grace marks, all you need to know

The Supreme Court disposed off petitions challenging grace marks awarded by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in the NEET examination by accepting the centre's recommendation for re-exam.

This came days after as many as 67 students scored a perfect 720 in the NEET examination, unprecedented in the NTA's history, with six from Haryana's Faridabad.

Scores of students protested, seeking a probe into alleged irregularities in the NEET assessment.

The SC allowed the NTA to conduct the re-examination on June 23 and cancel the scorecards of the 1,563 candidates who would opt to appear.

The original scorecards of the 1,563 candidates without the grace marks will be considered.

The NTA informed the court that the re-test results will likely be announced before June 30 to facilitate counselling process starting on July 6.

The apex court also issued a notice regarding petitions raising alleged malpractices in the conduct of the NEET exam.

The petitions include the ones seeking cancellation of NEET-UG 2024, over allegations of question paper leak and grace marks to over 1,500 medical aspirants.

Allegations such as question paper leak and the grant of grace marks to over 1,500 medical aspirants led to protests nationwide.
