10 captivating pics of nebulae shared by NASA

The US space agency National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) frequently shares images of cosmic bodies and nebulae. Here are 10 captivating pics of nebulae shared by NASA.

A nebula is a giant cloud of dust, gas and smoke in space that is emitted during the explosion of a dying star or the formation of a new star.

This stunning pic of the Eagle Nebula was taken by NASA's Hubble Space Telescope. It shows columns of cool interstellar hydrogen gas and dust forming the pillar of the nebula.

This image of the Orion Nebula is a mosaic of 45 images captured by NASA's telescope. The image shows bright glowing clouds of gas and a star cluster associated with the nebula.

Captured by NASA's Hubble Space Telescope, this photo is of a young planetary nebula called MyCn18. It is located about 8,000 light-years away from Earth.

This image of the Helix Nebula was captured by NASA's telescope during the collision of gases near a dying star. The tadpole-like patterns in the image are called cometary knots.

This picture captured by NASA shows a tremendous stellar explosion in the Crab Nebula. The image shows the inner part of the Crab Nebula which is  dynamic and is continuously changing.

This mesmerising colourful image of the Lagoon Nebula was captured by NASA's telescope. It reveals a pair of one-and-a-half funnel-like structures called the interstellar twisters.

This stunning image is of the giant galactic nebula NGC 3603, captured by NASA's telescope. The image shows a starburst cluster featuring hot Wolf-Rayet stars and stellar winds in yellow colour.

This beautiful image shared by NASA is of a turbulent star birth called N159 in the Papillon Nebula. The image shows the emission of hydrogen in pink colour during the formation of a new star.

This majestic view of the Eskimo Nebula was captured by NASA's Hubble telescope. It shows the glowing remains of a dying, Sun-like star.

This image of the Sharpless 2-106 Nebula captured by NASA shows dusky blue and red plumes of dust and gases. The image shows a ring of dust forming an hourglass shape inside the nebula.
