The design of the Bharat Mandapam building symbolises India's rich traditions and the nation's modern amenities and contemporary living

The shape of Mandapam is derived from ‘Shankha’ (conch shell) and different walls depict several elements of traditional art and culture

Bharat Mandapam highlights the country's efforts in the field of solar energy (Surya Shakti) to celebrating its achievements in space (Zero to ISRO). It also includes ‘Pancha Mahabhuta, the fundamental elements of the universe, Aakash (Sky), Vayu (Air), Agni (Fire), Jal (Water), Prithvi (Earth)

Who designed Bharat Mandapam?

As per a PTI report, Bharat Mandapam was designed by Arcop, in association with Aedas, Singapore. Sanjay Singh is the main architect of this project

The Convention Centre has a larger seating capacity than the Sydney Opera House. It is made to host large-scale international exhibitions, trade fairs and conferences. It has a multi-purpose hall and plenary hall that can accommodate up to 7000 attendees
