5 essential tips to keep your pet healthy in summer

The scorching summer heat can significantly impact your pet's health. Here are five essential tips to keep your pets healthy in summer.

Keep your pet hydrated

The intense heat in summer can cause dehydration. It is essential to keep your pet hydrated. Give them plenty of water to drink at regular intervals throughout the day.

Limit outdoor exercise on hot days

Avoid taking your pet outdoors during the day. You can take them out for walks during the hours when it is not too hot. You can also engage your pet in playful indoor activities to help keep them physically active.

Include hydrating foods

Include hydrating foods in your pet's summer diet, such as watermelon and curd. You can also opt for pre-packaged wet food options and treats for your pet.

Provide a cooling environment

Keep your pets in an air-conditioned room or room with a fan. You can also opt for a cooling gel-filled pet mat, which helps absorb your pet's body heat.

Look out for signs

Closely watch your pet and look for signs of heatstroke, such as heavy panting or lethargy. Excessive scratching and licking can also hint at summer allergies or parasites.
