Small talk can be scary for introverts. As reserved and observant individuals, the spontaneity of conversations can feel overwhelming. Remember these basic conversation starters to avoid making things awkward.

Be receptive and aware of your surroundings. To avoid initial awkwardness, try asking the other person about themselves. Compliment their dress and ask where it’s from, or comment on the food.
