Ease anxiety using these tips from a Harvard specialist

Anxiety can affect anyone, and for many, it starts from a young age.

It's a feeling of unease that can grow as time passes, often leading to a constant worry about not achieving enough.

Studies on Tibetan monks, who meditated for years, revealed that meditation can lead to increased brain tissue linked to happiness.

A technique called KIST, or “Kind Internal Self-Talk,” can help reduce anxiety quickly.

KIST involves using kind and compassionate self-talk. It's a process that helps people stop worrying about others opinions and promotes emotional calm.

Start by imagining your anxiety as a small creature. Acknowledge it gently, letting it know you’re aware of its presence calmly and kindly.

Visualise placing your anxiety in a comfortable, padded box, then carry it with you in a small imaginary bag, symbolising that you’re in control.

Using KIST regularly helps reduce anxiety and fosters a sense of emotional security, making it easier to manage difficult feelings in daily life.
