The US Department of State manages the Diversity Visa program, also known as the Green Card Lottery. This program randomly selects winners from countries that have had low immigration rates to the US in the past and grants up to 55,000 green cards to the lucky winners. The results for the DV-2025 will be available online starting Saturday, May 4, at 12 p.m. EDT.

How to check your status?

The department has announced that those who have applied for the DV-2025 program can enter their confirmation details by accessing the link available on the official website. This process will commence on May 4, 2024, starting at noon (EDT). It is recommended that candidates should keep their confirmation number handy until September 30, 2025, for future reference. The entry period for the DV-2025 Diversity Visa Program was between October 4, 2023 and November 7, 2023.

Who is eligible for the Diversity Visa Program?

To participate in the Green Card Lottery, there are two main requirements that applicants must fulfil:

  1. They should have been born in a country eligible for the program. To find out which countries are currently eligible, visit the official Diversity Visa program website.
  2. Applicants must have either a high school degree or two years of work experience in the past five years in a profession that requires a minimum of two years of training.

How to apply for Green Card through Diversity Immigrant Visa Program?

According to the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the application process involves filing Form I-485. The supporting evidence required for the form are:

  1. Two passport-style photos
  2. Copy of birth certificate
  3. Form I-693, Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record
  4. Copy of passport page with nonimmigrant visa (if applicable)
  5. Copy of passport page with admission (entry) or parole stamp (if applicable)
  6. Form I-94, Arrival/Departure Record
  7. Certified copies of court records (if the individual has been arrested)
  8. Copy of the principal applicant’s selection letter for the diversity visa lottery from DOS
  9. Copy of the receipt from DOS for the diversity visa lottery processing fee
  10. Form I-601, Application for Waiver of Grounds of Inadmissibility (if applicable)
  11. Applicable fees
